TIMTOO Electonic timing is now installed for the climb of Mt Ventoux from the south
How It Works
The route between Bedoin and the summit of Mt Ventoux is equipped with two radars: the first one is located directly across from the La Route du Ventoux bicycle shop, which is at km 0 on the D974 up the south side of Mt Ventoux.
The Timtoo pocket size transponder/receiver module (see below) allows you to register your departure time as you cross the line on the road at the Km 0 location.
The second radar is by the parking area at the summit of Mount-Ventoux and it registers your arrival as you cross the flat portion of the parking area at the top.
A telephone liaison system transfers your time immediately to the central computer of the Timtoo Society. You can then retrieve that information immediately on their site www.timtoo.com. When you return the rented module to the La Route du Ventoux cycle shop, you will receive an official diploma listing your time.
Rental of the Timtoo module: 5 euros
About the Timtoo Module
The Timtoo module weighs just 20 g and contains a radio microchip which allows you to register your time on any routes that are equipped with the Timtoo system. The Timtoo module can be added to a key chain or slipped into a pocket of your bike jersey or jacket. For maximum precision, a right pocket is preferred. The module has a 750 hour life in automatic mode. To enhance its longevity, it is recommended that you turn it on just before reaching the route you want to time yourself on; and turn it off immediately after arrival.
For more information on the Timtoo electronic timing system and locations of permanent installations visit the Timtoo site www.timtoo.com.
